Team Papwiel exists out of 2 persons, 1 car. Papwiel is the african expression which means ‘flat tire’. The idea to join the Amsterdam-Dakar challenge was pretty impulsive. Below you can read more about the team members. To visit our team page on the official Amsterdam-Dakar challenge website, please click here.

Bart
Bart – Brel
He has been waiting for 25 years for an adventure! I was born in Schagerbrug in 1984. Currently I live and work in Amsterdam. I’m a big fan of live music and festivals. I work as a test engineer at Tekelec Netherlands. Furthermore I don’t have any mechanical skills, but I do think it is a great idea to take a wreck on a journey to Africa and supporting others while doing so.

Dirk
Dirk – Easy
I am 24 years of age and just acquired my master’s degree in industrial design engineering at the University of Twente. I love freeride skiing and motocross; although I currently do not practice the latter due to a lack of time and money. Riding Amsterdam-Dakar was my idea; I am pleased that Bart is crazy enough to ride it with me. My love of motorized vehicles strongly contradicts to my specialization in socially responsible entrepreneurship and eco-design. Luckily Amsterdam-Dakar is socially responsible, providing satisfaction on multiple levels: the journey & the charities.
